Seperti Hari Raya Aidil Adha tahun lepas, sekali lagi aku "korban" arnab untuk dijadikan juadah...hehehe!! Tahun lepas 2 ekor tapi pada kali ini 4 ekor telah pun disembelih. Sememangnya daging arnab amat sedap sekali, anak-anak pun suka... Syukur Alhamdulillah tak lah membazir.

Yang bagusnya tiap-tiap seekor yang disembelih tu, selepas disiang & dibuang kepala, kulit dan isi perut...beratnya boleh dikatakan molek-molek 1kg, memang muai sekali. Seekor telah diberikan pada seeorang kawan yang membantu dalam proses 'membersihkan', 2 lagi ada yang digoreng dengan tepung KFC, dibuat Rabbit Stew & 1 lagi masih belum dimasak... Ada yang telah dijamu pada kawan-kawan yang berniaga di Pasar Karat JB... "pakat-pakat rasa". Sekurang-kurangnya yang tak pernah rasa daging arnab ni dapatlah merasakan sedapnya.

Jadi pada pembaca & pengikut blog ni bolehlah melihat foto-foto semasa proses sembelih & pembersihan.... Pada yang rasa penggeli ke...kesian ke... maaf lah ye....? ekekeke

Aidil Adha 2010

Kami di Rock & Roll Bunnies mengucapkan Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Adha kepada semua kenalan, ahli-ahli Persatuan Pencinta Arnab Johor (ARNAB JOHOR), rakan-rakan, saudara mara dan yang teutama kepada para pelanggan kami yang sudi memberi sokongan kepada kami. 

Semoga Aidil Adha kali ini memberi impak yang besar dalam apa jua pengorbanan yang pernah dan akan dilalui demi kesejahteraan kita semua di dunia ini & juga di akhirat kelak.

Birth update for 1st half of 2010

Introductory

Its nearly end of July now, this is a half yearly birth report. So far we at R&RB had a few birth. However, there were some minor setback. Unfortunately, my Lionheads are not reproducing except for Princess but still its the one & only birth so far. The birth was on January 3rd, and only one out of three kits survived. It was posted early this year.

Attempts to rebred the Lionheads were conduct but no cooperations are given by any of the does at the time. Amooi & Tigress are not excluded.

The Kindling

I assume they are doing quite well.

The first to kindle would be Estelle. So far she had given birth twice this year, the first was on April 9th, 7 kits were born but one did not survive. The other six grew up well & consist of 3 bucks & 3 does. Four were sold. The second birth was recently which is on July 13th, this time its only 3 in a litter. They are 2 weeks old by now. Hope the three kits would grow up healthy.

On May 13th, its Cindy's turn. She kindled four, This was her first litter. We were all so happy but our happiness did not last. Non of her kits survive the first 10 days. One by one died due to unknown reasons. The possibility was that there might be infections from Cindy's milk. Reason being, after giving birth to the litter, she had become unwell & loosing her appetite. She looks depressed, inactive & skinny. There were times mucous like substance can be found together with her droppings. Could it be COXIDIOSIS? Actions were taken to prevent & cure her before things get a lot worst. Medications & suppliments were given to Cindy. She was kept under close observation. Fortunately, she's getting better & possibilities are she might be pregnant again & will be expecting on August 6th. Wish us luck.

June 11th, Muffin too had her first litter. 2 whites (a pair), 1 black (a buck, sold & to be claimed after weanig) and 1 brown (a doe, like her), the kits are 6 weeks old now. Healthy, eats a lot & very active. However the ears are not fully lop yet. As for Muffin, she will be expecting again on August 28th.

May 4th, Hamsy a crossed Lionhead given birth to her first litter. There were 2 kits. Both were sold on June 26th & 27th.

 Then there is this one doe, Lita a hydrid. Kinda huge for her age. Exact birthdate unknown. I bought her from a breeder here in Johore. I was told that she used to be in Uncle Teng's (of Kluang) herd. Its a possibility that she was a product between a giant breed & some other breed. She too had her chance to do her bid for us.

On July 26th, a kit was born but did not make thru the day. I was dissapointed actually. This is due to the fact that Lita's tummy is really big not to mention her size. I honestly expects that she would kindle atleast 5 kits. The nest box were not taken out as I'm pretty certain that she is going to deliver a few more in due time.

Hence, I was right! the next day which is July 27th, (maybe sometime at dawn) Lita gave birth to 4 more kits. I found out at around 7.30 am when me & my daughter was about to do our routine chores. They seem to be smaller than the average new borns but thats O.K. since my 'psychic preminition' were correct! haha... Lita really amazed me. Without notice. sometime between 6pm and 9pm on the same day. she delivered another 2 kits. I really did not expect it this time. So now, there are 6 kits in the litter. Grow up healthy, please...............

PROJEK 'RABBIT BOOTH' DI JB BAZAAR@PASAR KARAT, JB.

BISMILLAHIRRAHMANIRAHIM

Pada hari Sabtu, 10hb Julai 2010 yang lalu LZ bersama-sama tiga lagi rakan penternak arnab di daerah Johor Bahru telah mula membuka booth jualan arnab hias untuk peminat-peminat arnab di sini. Walaubagaimanapun kami hanya bercadang untuk membuka booth hanya pada hujung minggu iaitu pada hari-hari Jumaat & Sabtu sahaja. Ini adalah kerana kami semua bekerja & mempunyai komitmen lain.

Kami memulakan perniagaan agak lewat sekitar jam 7.00 malam, kerana sedikit masalah untuk mendapatkan tapak. Sungguh tidak disangka-sangka sambutan pada hari/malam pertama amat menggalakkan. Sebanyak 9 ekor arnab dari baka-baka exotic, mixed hybrid & juga baka tempatan telah dapat kami jual beserta dengan aksesori peliharaan. Amat menggembirakan melayan orang ramai yg berkunjung ke booth kami. Seronok melayan pertanyaan & juga memberi penerangan tentang mahluk Allah yang comel ini. Sememangnya secara jujur, LZ memang tidak menyangka akan ada jualan pada malam tersebut. Maklumlah, baru dibuka & orang pun belum tahu lagi wujudnya peniaga arnab di situ. Rezeki yang Allah berikan sungguh tidak disangka-sangka. Alhamdulillah Syukur.

Kami telah menamatkan perniagaan pada jam 2.00 pagi dengan hati yang senang kerana jualan pada malam tersebut merupakan petanda baik dan memberikan satu semangat baru buat kami. Sampai saja di rumah, kami telah mula membuat perancangan untuk perniagaan pada hari Jumaat (16/07/2010) yang akan datang.

jam 5.30 ptg. : Dengan hati yang terbuka kami memulakan perjalanan ke kawasan JB Bazaar. Dengan bantuan seorang  rakan (Bro Blade) yang telah lama berniaga di sana, kami telah pun mendapat tapak yang baru kali ini di hadapan CIMB Bank.

jam 7.20 mlm. : Semuanya telah siap, canopy baru saja LZ beli tengahari tadi telah pun tersergam. Lampu pun dah pasang..terang! Orang ramai pun sudah mula mundar mandir di kawasan JB Bazaar.

jam 8.00 mlm. :  Booth kami tidak henti-henti dikunjungi. Anak-anak peniaga lain pun kerap datang & pergi. Kadang-kadang tu ada juga rasa rimas bila budak-budak ada. Tapi tak apa lah...seronok perhatikan gelagat mereka.

jam 9.00 mlm.  :  Lebihkurang waktu inilah sesuatu yang tidak diingini berlaku. Datangnya seorang pegawai Penguatkuasa MBJB dari booth ke booth untuk mengutip sewa tapak berniaga. Di sinilah masalah bermula.

Setibanya di booth kami & selepas saja menerima duit sewa, pegawai tersebut telah memberitahu bahawa penjualan haiwan hidup adalah tidak dibenarkan di kawasan bazaar tersebut. Menurut pegawai itu lagi, kami perlu mendapatkan Surat Kebenaran dari pihak Jabatan Veterinar & Jabatan Kesihatan untuk menjual haiwan hidup. Apabila ditanya sekiranya kami dapat mengadakan dokumen-dokumen tersebut, adakah baru dibenarkan berniaga? Jawapnya "TIDAK, tidak boleh berniaga di tempat terbuka hanya di rumah kedai."

Kami mohon supaya dibenarkan untuk meneruskan perniagaan pada malam tersebut tetapi dilarang pada keesokkan harinya.... :(

ANNOUNCEMENT: I would like to appologise that tonight we're unable to open up our booth @Pasar Karat. Reason is that the local authority (MBJB) does not allow live animals to be sold without permits from related government bodies. Its not fair to us since IMMITATION GOODS ARE ALLOWED TO BE SELL OPENLY. However, we are... taking steps to solve the matter. PLEASE WISH US LUCK & PRAY FOR US.See More

Persoalannya sekarang.... Sekiranya haiwan hidup tidak boleh diniagakan di tempat-tempat terbuka & perlukan "permit & dokumen tertentu...." LZ ingin bertanya, Mengapa pula barang-barang jenama tiruan yang sememang salah dari segi undang-undang dibolehkan/dibenarkan untuk dijual dengan begitu banyak sekali? Di mana ketelusan pihak penganjur JB Bazaar yang juga merupakan pihak berkuasa tempatan iaitu Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru? Sedangkan usaha-usaha untuk membasmi  & merampas kerap dijalankan oleh pihak-pihak yang berkuasa di sekuruh negara dan mendapat liputan di TV & akhbar.

Kami telah mula merancang untuk mendapatkan surat kebenaran dari pihak Jabatan Veterinar. Selain itu, kami juga mula mendapatkan bantuan dari kenalan-kenalan yang mempunyai saluran dengan pihak MBJB supaya dibenarkan meneruskan perniagaan.

jam 12.32 tghri : Semalam, LZ telah menerima satu sms dari seorang rakan yang rapat dengan salah seorang Ahli Majlis MBJB. Beliau telah  mengadukan hal-hal tersebut kepada Ahli Majlis tersebut & inilah jawapan yang telah diperolehi dari pihak MBJB (sungguh menyakitkan hati!! & memeng telah diduga)

Ingin LZ tekankan di sini, LZ tiada masalah dengan peniaga-peniaga barangan jenama tiruan (LZ sendiri pun ada membeli barangan tersbut). Apa yang LZ pertikaikan di sini ialah perlaksanaan & ketelusan pihak berkuasa dalam menjalankan tugas mereka.

Our 2nd Rabbit booth sale

LZ admit, its been quite awhile since I updated this blog of mine... been pretty busy with things I guess.

Anyway, I assure you all that Rock & Roll Bunnies is still "alive and kicking". Currently, we are in the middle of planning to upgrade a few things... Financially, marketing strategy, rabbit cells upgrading, establishing ourselves within the Johore Bahru public etc. Part of it maybe by joining up or better yet making an alliance with other breeder friends here on increasing our sales...such as setting up sales booth at strategic spots around the city.

With that idea, LZ has participated in a 1 day event at Sek. Keb. Kempas Baru, Johor Bahru which took place on Saturday, 26th June 2010. And with help from friends, we managed to gather some stocks to be put on sale for the event..

LZ opened for business at around 8.30am that day. Since it was a school event, so they were lots of school kids with their parents. There were lots of inquiries by the visitors & there were times I had my hand full attending to sales & questions by them since LZ was alone at the booth and the kids weren't there yet to help out. It was a hot day & a good day too. On that day, we sold 10 local breed (DSH), 2 Lionheads & 2 Lop Ears and some accessories too. The booth were closed at around 4pm. 

By the way, guess what...? On the next day (Sunday), we even had visitors coming over to purchase our rabbits..!! Good, aint it? ;)

LZ would like to take this apportunity to thank the organising committee by letting us participate in the event and most of all to promote ourselves.

Al-Fatiha di atas pemergian Allahyarham Mohammad bin Chik @ Pak Mat Kedidi (Mahaguru Seni Silat Senjata Lapan) ke Rahmattullah pada 8hb Mei 2010 jam 1.05 pagi. Semoga roh beliau dicucuri Rahmat & ditempatkan di sisi Allah swt besama orang-orang yang beriman...Ameen.

Allahyarham sungguhpun ketika itu tidak berapa sihat tapi masih penuh bersemangat apabila bercerita tentang permainan 'Buah Pukul".

Allahyarham sedang memberi penerangan tentang permainan "Buah Pukul" kepada dua pesilat adik-beradik dari Norway yang mana mereka juga mempelajari "Buah Pukul Mersing"sambil diperhatikan oleh salah seorang anak murid beliau yang terawal iaitu saudara Yahya.



Led Zepp mengambil kesempatan ini mengucapkan Takziah kepada seluruh ahli keluarga Allahyarham.... Pemergian beliau merupakan suatu kehilangan yang amat besar dalam dunia persilatan bangsa Melayu.

Peristiwa-peristiwa sepanjang bulan Mac & April (update 3)

One step after another & one thing at a time....

Once again LZ is keeping busy since four of the does wasn't producing (kindle). Accept for Estelle which kindled on April 9th, giving birth to 7 cute bunnies but unfortunately 1 died. This is due to the fact that the baby was lying on the wet ground after birth maybe it fell off the cage. The other 6 babies are 2 weeks old now. However for the 3 Lionhead does, 1 Dwarf Hotot & 1 Cashmere Lop were re-bred and expect to kindle sometime mid May.

These belongs to Estelle when they were only 10days old. Even eyes are not openned yet...

So LZ is finding other thing to do. Such as...... Ah yes! Time to package the rabbit compost. Yea...the compost that was made since the 1st time the rabbitry project started which was in August 2009. Actually the compost were ready to be packed quite sometime ago. Its just the timing wasn't right... We had it tested, yes tested... We gave out some of the compost to neighbours that love to plants flowers in their front lawn as hobbies. Now it is proven to be very good for the plants. So far we managed to pack up to 42 packets of rabbit compost with the weight of 2kg per bag. R&RB plans to sell them for the price of RM10/= each. Actually LZ is having a bit of a problem to decide on the price tag... When browsing thru the net to check on the market price of rabbit compost. What LZ found out was that some are expensive selling at RM4/= for a mere 400gm bag while some are very affordable at the price of RM4/= per/kg. See how far is the difference? So after giving it much taugths, LZ decide to play safe and plans to sell at the above proposed price which is RM10/= for a 2kg plastic bag.

Now we are planning to proceed with the 2nd run of producing more rabbit compost as the source for raw materials are very easily obtained. As a matter of facts, the 1st step of making compost which is to dry the rabbits dropping are already taken place.

Peristiwa-peristiwa sepanjang bulan Mac & April (update 2)

On the 2nd & 3rd of April, we at R&RB were fortunate enough to be given an oppotunity to participate in the "Program Juara Rakyat Parlimen Pulai/MBJB bersama Tabung Haji" as it was a last minute deal. The venue was right here in the neighbourhood. Actually all the booth were fully booked. LZ only knew about the function only 3 days before. However, we managed to open up a booth as this would be like a door of opportunity for us to introduce & to promote ourselves to the residence in here and those residing in the nearby area.

LZ would like to personally thank En. Nazleen Abdul Jabbar for instantly giving us the chance without having to take time considering our application. Your cooperation is highly appreciated.

The 2 days program started in the morning till later in the day. There were a lot of booth from various government agencies and also from private sectors paricipating as well. There were also activities held such as futsal competition, games for kids & adults as well organised by the respective organiser. Unfortunately, the weather was not a friendly one. It rained on both days. On the first day it rained in the evening and on the second day it started raining early in the morning.

The response towards R&RB were good by rabbits/pets lovers & visitors alike. There were times our booth were full with on lookers. Even though sales wasn't as expected, it was a really good experience for us. As LZ consider it as a stepping stone for other oppotunities. LZ took a positive approach towards the end to the 2 days event.

There were some nice & not so nice incidents during the 2 days. One of the nice experience was LZ able to gave out some informations about rabbits to the visitors on rabbits characters, behavior & deseases and also gained some new friends too. The not so nice ones well..... but will be remembered for a long time by LZ was about this lady that came on the last day of the event.

There was this one particular lady came with 2 of her sons. She claimed to have rabbit(s) for pet. Dressed in a typical malay "muslimah" outfit. No make up, with glasses & a "tudung labuh". She came, looked around & started asking questions.... She also mentioned about coming across our blog (http://rocknrollbunnies.blogspot.com) while browsing thru the net. When LZ told her that the blog is ours, the expression on her face changed and instantly denies it...as if she knew who is the owner of the blog and the best part was that Rock & Roll Bunnies is not located here in Kempas, JB. HAHAHA!! What a JOKE! As LZ showed her the R&RB's  banner, still with a sceptic look as if me LZ, a FAKE  She only admits when LZ gave her a name card & asked her to visit the blog & check on the handphone numbers stated on the card & also on the blog.... Another incident with this same lady was when a certain someone came over with his 2 bunnies to get a shot for both of his bunnies due to fungus problem. She asked how much was the charges for the shots. As LZ told her that it was RM15/=.... Again her expression changed & said; "mahalnya...! Kalau kat Veterinar (goverment owned) baru RM3....". (Quote: Just think for a second, if you go to a goverment hospital how much does it cost compared to a Specialist Hospital?). When asked..where she lives, she only said,"adalah...ada lah.."  Who does she think I am..a thief? For God sake!

LZ would like to take this opportunity to say something to YOU, if you are reading this, you know who you are... As a matter of fact, as this is my blog... I can say what ever I want!! 

"Dear Pn. Muslimah, I know that you are a highly educated, a retired high ranked goverment officer with the Imigration Dept., with a very very good monthly pension and a highly paid husband that lives in a bungalow (believe me, I know where you live). Unfortunately, the way you acted the other day does not reflect the way you are dressed and the brain that Allah has bestowed upon you. Its a damn shame because I know what type of a person you are from the very first time you openned up your mouth. A type of person that judge a person by the outlook & looked down on others that doesn't suits you, a sceptic & a critic. Just because you madam, are dressed in that manner... you think you are closer to Allah? Yes, I may have long hair and I wears as I wish. Heck! I'm a true blue ol' skool rocker!  For all I know, maybe....just maybe...You madame when come election time..you don't even vote for the ruling goverment & yet you 'grab' your monthly pension without giving it a second taught!!! But one thing for sure, I thank Allah everyday for not letting me be a hypocrite like yourself!!!  Kesian...kesian.. Some people do have the nerve......WTF!"

Peristiwa-peristiwa sepanjang bulan Mac & April (update1)

Assalammualaikum semua, LZ kembali dengan paparan baru setelah lama tak "posting".

2 bulan sudah berlalu, banyak perkara telah berlaku...macam-macam. Apa pun, syukur alhamdulillah ke hadrat Allah s.w.t. kerana dengan limpah kurnia rezekiNya anak-anak arnab telah banyak terjual. Hanya tinggal beberapa ekor saja lagi yang masih berada dalam simpanan....iaitu MMLH001D & MMLH003B, kedua-duanya dari baka Doublemane Lionhead. (Sila rujuk posting sebelum ini.) Tapi bagi MMLH005D (juga Doublemane Lionhead), LZ memang dari sejak awal lagi tidak berhasrat untuk menjualnya. Ini kerana sifat luarannya yang amat menarik tidak seperti dua lagi adik beradiknya yang sedikit kurang. Sekarang MMLH005D telah kami namakannya dengan gelaran AMOOI... sebabnya ialah kerana ianya 'doe' dan matanya yang sedikit sepit (get it?!)

Inilah foto-foto AMOOI. Cutekan? Sekarang Amooi telah berusia hampir mencecah 4 bulan, Lahir pada 30/12/2009. Ada sesiapa yang berkenan? Hehehehe...Tak dapat Jack!!!

Hmm..apa lagi ek? Ah...yes! Ada seekor lagi yang lahir pada 03/01/2010, kelahiran pertama pada tahun 2010...sebenarnya 3 ekor semuanya iaitu anak-anak "Princess".  Malangnya 2 lagi tidak dapat bertahan. Seekor yang LZ maksudkan ialah TIGRA (MMLH008B), Yes! Tigra "the miracle baby bunny". Alhamdulillah, Tigra juga dapat membesar dengan sihat. Apabila Tigra & Amooi mencapai usia matang kelak, LZ akan jadikan mereka induk untuk menghasilkan lebih banyak lagi baka-baka Doublemane Lionhead yang 'authentic' ini kerana Tigra juga dari jenis baka yang sama.

Amacam... Comel jugak Si Tigra ni kan? Sebenarnya Tigra ni jenis Tri-colour & berbelang corak warnanya. Bayangkan kalau Amooi dikahwinkan dengan Tigra ni....? Perrghhh!! Harap-harap menjadi.... Amin.
